Workshop on Adsorption in Compliant Solids

June 5—7 2013, Paris

Welcome!

This workshop entitled “Adsorption in Compliant Solids: Theory, Simulation, and Experiments” will be held in Paris, from June 5 to 7, 2013, under the auspices of the French CNRS. It is the second edition of this workshop; the first one was held in 2011 (website).

Workshop presentation

At the present time, due to a large variety of compliant solids and very different magnitudes of adsorption deformation, there is no single theoretical framework available for the description of these phenomena. Moreover, adsorption deformation is a phenomenon that spawns many communities, with scientists working on different classes of materials and having few opportunities to collectively discuss and improve the methods and tools available today. The aim of this workshop is to initiate such a discussion, to outline the on-going theoretical and methodological developments in the field, and to shed some light onto the topical problems for the future.

A more detailed presentation of the workshop’s aims and topics can be found here.

Registration

The program will include a series of invited lectures given by leading experimentalists, theoreticians, and computer scientists, and a poster session organized in an interactive manner. Registration is mandatory. To do so, with your name, affiliation and addresses, and the poster title (if you want to present). The deadline for registration and poster proposals is May 1, 2013.

On the financial side, there will be no conference fee, and the workshop budget will cover catering (coffee breaks and lunches) as well as a social dinner. We cannot, however, offer support for accommodation or travel expenses, except for very special cases.
